31.05.2008 Saturday

Saturday was a very busy day for the both Edgars coaches & Edgar kids! The day started off with a children's league at Nakawa, Mubs, in which the kids from the school soccer clubs and the weekend programme participated. We were very happy to see that so many parents came to support their children! You are welcome any time to come and watch the soccer training and games, your children will love it.

A large group of the Edgar kids travelled in the afternoon to the Namboole stadium for important tasks: to accompany the players to the field. EYP's kids have worked hard throughout the match to see to it that the Cranes and Niger players did not have to wait for a ball to continue the game. The entire group was excited to see the Cranes win. Oyee Cranes!

For further report and photos, please check out the kids (fun) page!

For us, these events definitely made up for the earlier disappointment of not meeting the former French skipper Marc Desailly and participating in the Barclays Cup. Different from what has been announced in the newspapers this week, Edgars kids did not participate in the coaching session with Desailly due to circumstances very much beyond our control. We've done our utmost to have the kids still join in - but unfortunately other decisions were made.

Edgars Youth Programme thanks the schools and parents who took the effort to allow them to participate and prepare the kids for the training, and we are very, very sorry for the disappointment it brought to the youngsters! For now, we can only hope that next time will be better.
