Edgars Academy Teams Triumph at Edgars Youth Cup

Edgars U11 and U15 Academy Teams yesterday emerged champions at the annual Edgars Youth Cup that was held at Mandela National Stadium Namboole. Mulindwa Marvin scored a hatrick in the second half as the U11 team came from behind to beat Kololo Soccer Academy 3-1 while Kayinja Micah scored a brace for the U15 team to emerge winners against Rising Stars Academy from Gayaza. The U13 team lost 2-0 in the finals against Rising Stars Academy.

The one day soccer gala event attracted a total of 24 teams that were classified into groups A and B.

Class A comprised of U11, U13, and U15 (boys) as well as  U15 girls Teams:

U11 Teams included; Edgars, Uganda Revenue Authority, Kololo Soccer Academy, and Rising Stars Academy 

U13 Teams included; Edgars, Proline, Rising Stars Academy, and Hand of God Academy

U15 Boys Teams included; Edgars, Rising Stars Academy, Ebenezer Faith Academy, and City Sports House

U15 Girls Teams included; Edgars, Mackay, Saved to Serve, and Nsambya Young Stars

Class B comprised of U11, U9 and U7 Teams:

U11 Teams included; Holiday and Kampala Junior Academy

U9 Teams included; Edgars A, Edgars B, Uganda Revenue Authority, and Aga Khan

U7 Teams included; Edgars and Uganda Revenue Authority

Kampala Junior Academy beat Edgars 4-1 to emerge winners of U11 in Class B, Edgars A colleted 9 points after winning all their 3 games to emerge winners for the U9 category where as Uganda Revenue Authority beat Edgars 4-2 to take the trophy for the U7 categaory. 

The closing ceremony was graced by Edgars Team Leader Edgar Watson Suubi and Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) executive member Mr. Mpiima Samuel who presided over as the Chief Guest, handed over the trophies to the respective winners.

URA U11, Edgars U11, U13, U15 and Girls Team to participate in Edgars Youth Cup

Edgars Youth Cup Coordinator Dan Mubirun has recieved confirmation from Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) about their participation in the 3rd edition of Edgars Youth Cup.URA who are the champions of the U11 age category and have vowed to defend the trophy they won last year at African Bible University groundsLubowa.

Edgars Youth cup for December

Edgars Youth Cup registration has kicked off, the registration is open to schools and Academies both Boys and Girls below 15 years.The Edgars annual soccer tournament will attract 40 Schools and Academies across the country as well as team from foreign countries.

We invite all academies,Schools both boys and Girls to register for the two day tournament in the categories of U11,U13, U15 and Girls Team. This time the tournament will be played at Makerere University Business Studies (MUBS) grounds. Each age group will have 10 teams and the winner will get a trophy a Ball and Medals.

Edgars Youth Cup coordinator Coach Dan Mubiru said that he expectes 40 teams to register and compete for  a trophy,  Ball and medals. All teams that participate will get a certificate and a Ball each. This is going to be a tough tournament and we urge all the schools and academies to register first come first serve.

Edgars U15 Girls win Youth Cup

The second edition of Edgars Youth Cup held on saturday 11th December at Lubowa African Bible University saw 15 teams compete in the U11, U13 and U15 age categories. Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) U-11 team emerged victors in the U-11 category, Proline Soccer Academy (PSA) and SC Villa Junior team were also champions of U-13 and U-15 categories respectively.

The FUFA Technical Director Mr Asuman Lubowa applauded the management of EYP for its good committement towards youth development and especially for organising such a tournament where the youth can compete. Coach Lubowa said this while presiding over the awarding of trophies and prizes to the outstanding players (best player, goal keeper and top scorer).

The tournament coordinator Mubiru Dan was delighted to have had such a youth cup organised successfully in partnership with Victoria Beverages Ltd maker of Ripples safe water and City Sports House; having managed to incorporate the U-15 girls category where Edgars U-15 girls overcame Saved to Serve Acedemy girls team to lift the girls trophy. Nakazibwe Sylvia of Edgars team became the best player and top scorer with 3 goals in the girls' category while Dhaira Eric of City Sports U15 was selected as the best goal keeper.

The second edition of Edgars Youth Cup organised by Edgars Youth Programme (EYP) is set to be played on Saturday, December 11 at African Bible University In Lubowa.Edgars Youth Programme(EYP) U-15 coach Ignatius Kyagulanyi has vowed to take U-15 age category trophy this year. "This time I'm ready to take the U-15 as I now have a good team. Some of the players have graduated from U-13 team which I was handling before taking over from the U-15 of last year. They are now mature and can terrorise any team." He went further to stress, " Express young won last edition and now I'm set for them this time round and hopefully they will not retain it". Carl Martin,Rudi are among the players to watch this time. URA, Edgars, Express teens, SC Villa teens, St Julian, Luwero Kids League are among the teams that will participate in the Edgars Youth Cup come Saturday 11th December.

EDGARS YOUTH CUP 2010

The second Edition of Edgars Youth Cup will be staged on Saturday 11th December 2010 at African Bible University in Lubowa ( opposite Quality super Market). Coach Mubiru Dan the coordinator of Edgars cup said all is set for the open competition that was organised to attract other youth groups to compete with each other. Edgars Youth Programme(EYP) registered  3 teams in all age categories U11, U13 and U15 where U13 are the defending champions.Coach Dan clarified that " whereas the childrens League is organised to give opportunity to all those involved in EYP programs, the Edgars Youth Cup was established to have a channel through which EYP players can play with other groups with in the country and other groups from out side Uganda".

He however lamented that the Team from Burundi withdrew at the last minute meaning that the second edition will have only youth groups from within Uganda.

The  other youth groups ( academies) that have comfirmed participation  include Luwero Kids League, Express Wembley, Sc villa Juniors U15, Proline Academy, URA Kids.  The first edition saw 2009 saw Proline U11,EYP U13 and Express U15 respectively became the champions.

Coach Dan said the focus now is on preparing a good flowing competition and thanked Mr. Mpanga Simon and Mr. Lugalambi Andrew for contributing towards the Youth Cup. Mr. Mpanga is the Director of Gaming International Limited while Mr. Lugalambi is Director of Victoria beverages which produces "Ripples" drinking water.

Conclusively the Edgars Youth cup 2010 promises to be explosive.

Naluvule College ready for Edgars cup

Naluvule College School based in Luwero has shown interest in participating in the one-day Edgars youth cup slated for the 11th of December 2010.The Director of the School, Madam Elsie Namagambe believes her team is ready for the cup competition and is planning to field both a girls and boys team who she believes will be good for a trophy. Among the teams that have shown interest include U11-URA, Gaming,U-13 Edgars, St Julian, U-15 Edgars, City Sports and Naluvule.Girls team: Edgars, Lubiri and Naluvule. Edgars youth cup is an annual event organised  by EYP with this year's competition set for Dec 11. Defending champions Proline U-11 and Express U-15 pulled out with Proline opting for the U-13 category while Edgars U-13, the U-13 defending champions will participate in the one-day gala at Lubowa African Bible Institute. 

Edgars, URA vows to take trophies

Edgars youth cup preparations has gained momentum after several teams steady themselves to snatch trophies. Defending champions Edgars coach Saidi Segirinya said, "come what may I will retain the trophy. Though I have lost almost all my players after coming through the ranks to the U-15, I still boast the best team. we are soon starting training since most of my players are in boarding schools". The likes of Kakembo Semakula have been promoted to the senior team. Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) team U-11 is also ready to snatch the trophy which Proline won last year. URA team manager Edison says he is ready and has  the weapon to take the trophy. "My boys are training hard and soon the squad will be announced, added Edison.

St Julian High School Academy confirms participatiion in Edgars Youth Cup

St Julian High School Academy Gayaza has confirmed participation in the annual Edgars Youth Cup soccer gala slated for December 11. According to the acting team leader Coach Segirinya saidi, 'We have run out of time and we have selected a team to coordinate the Edgars youth cup and will select its team to run the cup smoothly'. The team includes coaches Elijah Rabwoni, Maurice and Gilibert Muwonge who are running the organizing the cup. The deadline for the registering is on 15th october and we expect many teams and schools to take part in the second edition to be held at Lubowa African Bible Institute. st Julian Academy is one the schools that will take part in the second edition. We are also inviting schools to take part in the edition and we invite as many schools and Acdemies to bring girls and boys. Schools that we intend to invite include; Rubaga, Lubiri, Old Kampala, Aga Khan, Kamapla Junior Academy, Victorious Education Services(VES) among others. Other Academies include Edgars Youth Programme U-11, U-13 & U-15, Proline Academy, Express, SC Villa teens, City Sports, URA among others. The defending champions includes Proline U-11, Edgars U-13 and Proline U-15 in age categories. we expect over 16 teams to participate in the this year's gala.

Nile College,Wolves Youth Program in Edgars cup

Wolves Youth Program the oldest academy in Uganda has shown interest in participating in the second edition of Edgars cup, the director of the Wolves Youth Program Mr Livingstone Kyambadde revealed this during an interview and said that there is no problem participating in such a tournament where various academies can show case of their skills at a competitive level and most of all creating a gradual process for the young talented children develop.

Coach Kyambadde who also doubles as FUFA Vice president in charge of technial issues, said he's convinced that with such programmes, Uganda's football starting to develop fast and called upon all soccer academies to embrace such programmes.

Preparations for Edgars Youth Cup are under way and many Academies shown interest in participtaing in the 2nd edition 2010, Edgars sent invitations to various soccer Academies with in and out side Uganda.The tournament which will be played on 11th December at Lubowa grounds has so far received confirmation from URA, City Sports House and Edgars Youth teams. Proline,Express,Villa,Rising Ministries Youth team,KAYOFA,Kampala Junior team are yet to confirm among others

This tournament aims at providing competitive activitiesthat can enable youth to directly apply skills and techniques as learnt, build strong network among academies for a more improved working relationship and improving soccer conditioning at competitive level.

Edgars Youth cup will begin on 11th December 2010 at ISU grounds.Edgars which is played annually and started last year with 11 teams 3 age groups where U11 Proline,U13 Edgars Youth Programme and U15 Express Young won trophies in their age category.The tournament was being sponsored by Centenary Bank,City sports House, Ripples Water among others.The tournament attracted teams like Edgars Youth Programme, Proline,KKL,ECM,Villa,Express among others. We expect in each age group 4 teams. U9,11,13 and 15 and registration is on at ours offices on first come first serve.

Edgars Youth Cup 2009 Ends on a High

The Annual Edgars Youth Cup 2009 which attracted 9 teams ended on a high note with Proline Soccer Academy emerging thevictors in the U-11age category after defeating URA Kids, Edgars also lifted the trophy after defeating ECM Youth football team in the U-13 category and Express Junior team edged out Villa junior to emerge the Champions of U-15.

 

Edgars Youth Cup Inaugurated

On thursday 10th December 2009 Edgars Youth Programme launched the Edgars Youth Cup slated for 19th December 2009 at African Bible University in Lubowa.

This youth cup is for the U11, U13 and U15 age categories and has attracted 8 soccer Academies namely Proline, KKL, URA Kids,Villa Junior team, Express Junior team, City Sports team and ECM youth football team. The youth Cup is been sponsored by City Sports House, Victoria Beverages Ltd, Centenary Bank and URA.

Express won Edgars Youth cup U15

Express Young won the first ever cup Edgars U-15 trophy played at Lubowa African Bible University. Express whipped SC Villa junior 3-0 to lift the trophy which will be played annually. In the 2010 edition, foreign teams are expected to take part in the tournament.
