Lisa Biba Anne Kounikorgo

Lisa is named after both her grandmothers, and born 5 years ago in the St Vincentius Hospital in Paramaribo, Surinam (Dutch Guyanas). She is the youngest of 3 (Aïcha - 10, and Thomas - 7), but has no trouble of keeping her voice heard in the family. One the one hand she loves girls things (bags, necklaces, pink), but she also loves to play soccer.  She's not afraid to try to tackle the bigger boys, and loves to argue with the coaches.

She is in Reception P of the Kampala Intenational School of Uganda (Kabira). Her favourite food is cereal with milk, closely followed by chocolate. What position she plays? ... eh ..... she's everywhere and nowhere on the field, but recently starting tackling the bigger boys to regain ball position. Whatever happens, she goes on and on and on. In the recent 'slip and slide' she beat all the boys and girls up to year 1 by completing the biggest no. of laps....

One day she wants to be a player of the Dutch national team. Her choice in shirts in that respect is clear: either the orange 'lions' shirt with Jan-Klaas Huntelaar on the back or the blue shirt of Van der Sar (current hero of Manu). The best thing she likes about soccer: the exercises. Especially the running games of Coach Hassan.

Soccer seems to run in the family. Lisa's  dad, Sam, used to play soccer as well. In the neighbourhood of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, he used to play every day in the streets. He joined even the National Youth Team on a trip to Mali. One of the first soccer experiences in Uganda was the 2004 qualifier Cranes-Burkina (the Cranes won). At home, Lisa's mum, Yolanda, always watched the games on tv, and every year went with her uncle to the stadium to watch Feyenoord Rotterdam-Ajax Amsterdam in 'De Kuip', the most famous soccer derby in the Netherlands.

Our family has been living for 4 years in Uganda, after summer we are leaving for DR Congo. We gonna miss this place, and the friends we made here.

What we like about EYP?

The genuine interest in the kids, and the love for the soccer game. The team-spirit amongst the EYP coaches cannot be missed. They do their utmost to have the youngsters improve their soccer skills, no matter what that background or talent is. Not only soccer skills, but also values such as fair play, leadership and commitment are taught to the kids.

I'm impressed by the dedication and ethics within this organisation.  EYP deserves to be supported, and I'm convinced that with some support their dreams can come true. It will benefit the soccer and soccer players in Uganda, and most definitely the youth! Keep up the good work!
